IEEE student council at Usha Mittal Institute of Technology Council and Committees Gallery IEEE UMIT is the IEEE chapter of UMIT which acts as a bridge for the students to reach their goals. IEEE, which stands for Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, is an international organization and a community of technology and engineering professionals united by a common desire to continuously learn, interact, collaborate, and innovate. It also helps us get resources and opportunities we need to keep on top of changes in technology, get involved in standards development, network with other professionals, and so much more. IEEE UMIT conducts workshops on various topics related to the latest technologies. It also publishes 2 magazines yearly. It also has an yearly Industrial Visit to northern India. The 360 Degrees Plus is the technical fest of IEEE UMIT which is one of the most talked about events in the college. It helps students strengthen their knowledge and hone their technical skills. SEMINAR On Thursday 27 Feb 2020, WIE council with ENC Department under the guidance of Dr. Shikha Nema, conducted a seminar on "Hearing Awareness Program". Dr. Sakeena Shora, an audiologist and speech therapist from spectrum healthcare clinic gave us insights on the topic. Dr. Sakeena introduced the seminar with a brief introduction of the basics the human ear, structure, functioning and mechanism of hearing. Further ahead she explained the importance of the sensory organ. The Ear and the Brain work in integrity to hear, understand, reply to the speech. The problem statement of the seminar was what do we mean by hearing loss, impairment and deafness and how does it cause and when should one visit an audiologist. The Usha Mittal Institute of Technology library aims at providing access to its printed resources such as books and journals as well as electronic journals and online databases primarily for the use of faculty and staff. Facilities And Policies Usha Mittal Institute Of Technology Usha Mittal Institute Of Technology Usha Mittal Institute Of Technology 1/2 Related Navigation Question Papers Syllabus Library Collection Library Facility The UMIT library aims at providing access to its printed resources such as books and journals as well as electronic journals and online databases primarily for the use of faculty and staff at UMIT. Its holdings should reflect their interest largely. The library stock is increasing at a rate of approximately 1,000 books a year. The library also subscribes to over 50 current periodicals and to a range of electronic journals and databases. The library is supervised by a committee consisting of the librarian and three members from the faculty. The digital library has informative CDs, study material in interactive format and so on which are used by the students for better understanding of the subjects and students also have access to internet and websites. Loss and Defacement of Books, Journals, and other Library Articles The cost of replacement with additional 20% handling fee will be charged to the person for loss or damage to the library materials. Book grants may not be used to settle library dues. Any member if determined to have defaced or damaged any library item intentionally will have his/her library privileges revoked for a period of time determined by the library committee. Library privileges may be revoked permanently for multiple or serious offences. Members must take care of library materials and must not deface them by underlining, writing or drawing in them, by removing any part of them, or in any other way. Different rules and regulations to be followed at Usha Mittal Institute of Technology Rules and Regulations General Rules Attending Lectures / Labs Students coming late to the Institute will not be allowed in the classes. Bunking classes is not allowed in any case. In order to monitor the academic progress as well as the overall development of our students, we nominate one staff member as Class Advisor to whom students can approach for guidance. The students as well as their parents are welcome to contact the Class Advisor any time during the session (with prior appointment). While the lecture or the lab is in progress, a student is supposed to keep her mobile phone switched off failing which severe punishment can be given. Prohibition of Ragging Ragging within or outside the institute is strictly prohibited. Whoever student directly or indirectly participates in, abets or propagates ragging within or outside the institute shall face strict disciplinary action as per the provision of Maharashtra Prohibition of RAGGING ACT, 1999. Office Discipline Students are advised to look at notice boards for various circulars/notices etc. displayed regarding payment of fees, commencement of examination and other matters of academic interest. Whenever dates have been given for payment of Tuition Fees/Exam Fees etc. students should pay the fees well before the last date. This will avoid penalties as well as inconvenience to them. Students should not come to the Office for Railway concession or any other matter while their theory classes /practical are in progress. Further, whenever they come to Office, they should maintain proper discipline and decorum and they shall always follow the Queue system and shall not crowd near the counters and should not block main entrance & exit points. Picnics & Outings Students will not be permitted to organize/participate in private picnics/outings even on Sundays/Holidays without the written consent of the college Principal. All picnics/outings have to be authorized and accompanied by college staff. Any failure to comply with the rule will lead to strict action. Internet Usage Students are required to use the internet facility only for academic purposes and not for any other purposes like chatting. Misuse of this facility and tarnishing the image of the Institute or the faculty members on social networking sites will be liable for punishment and strict action. Theft Students found stealing other’s property or institutional property will be severely dealt with. If the institutional property/facility is damaged/stolen, the entire batch of students will be penalized and the cost will be recovered as deemed fit. Suggestion Box The suggestion box is provided by the Office. The students can use it for their problems, suggestions, complaints etc. Principal’s Signature Students should come to the Principal's Office for signature or for attestation during the recess time or only after their theory classes/practical are over. The above conditions are as per the Rules & Regulations of the Institute and all students should strictly follow them. Strict action will be taken against the student, if she fails to observe them. Any matter not covered by these Rules will rest at the absolute discretion of the Principal.
