SNDT Women's University recognizes the importance of Technology in the development of society. Technology has helped our country to become economically stronger and technology firms are one of the largest contributors to the development of our economy. This awareness prompted SNDT Women's University to star its own "Usha Mittal Institute of Technology" which offers a B.Tech degree course in Electronics and Communication, Information Technology, Computer Science and Technology, Computer Engineering and Data Science.

The scheme of examinations makes each and every student follow a path of hard work throughout the course, which is required of them in their future professional life. Life at UMIT does not stop only at fine tuning ones academic skills but also other professional and managerial skills. The institute has various student bodies such as Students Council, IEEE student's chapter, CSI, ACM, E-cell ,NSS and U^A. UMIT also has a promising plan to extend vertically and horizontally and start PG courses in Engineering and Technology and become mature in Research and Development.
